Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival in Arusha
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Your guide meets you outside the arrivals area and handles your transfer to Arusha Villa Lodge.
The drive to the lodge passes through local towns and greenery at the base of Mount Meru. After check-in, you can rest in your room or sit in the garden area.
In the evening, you receive a short safari briefing covering the route, expected wildlife, and daily schedule. Dinner is served at the lodge.
If time and energy allow, a short walk around the property or a spa session can be arranged.
Day 2 — Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Overnight: Conserve Safari Tarangire
After breakfast, depart Arusha and head toward Tarangire. The drive takes you through farmland, small trading centers, and open countryside.
At the park entrance, your first game drive begins. Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds and baobab trees, which dominate the skyline.
As you move deeper into the park, your guide tracks animal movement based on fresh signs and recent sightings. You may see elephants moving in groups, giraffes feeding, and predators resting in shaded areas.
Lunch is taken either as a packed meal inside the park or at the lodge depending on timing.
In the late afternoon, continue the game drive before heading to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 — Full Day in Tarangire
Overnight: Conserve Safari Tarangire
Start early with a morning game drive when temperatures are lower and animals are more active.
The route may follow the Tarangire River, which attracts wildlife during dry periods. This area often draws elephants, zebras, and antelope.
Return to the lodge for a short rest or lunch, then head out again in the afternoon to explore a different section of the park.
Because Tarangire has varied terrain, including swamps and open plains, each drive can reveal different animal patterns.
Optional activities include a guided walking safari with an armed ranger or a slower-paced drive focused on photography.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4 — Tarangire to Central Serengeti
Overnight: Conserve Serengeti Camp / Baobab Central Serengeti Camp
After breakfast, begin the journey toward Serengeti. The drive is longer today and includes changing landscapes as you move through highlands and into open grasslands.
You may stop along the way for short breaks and photos.
Upon entering Serengeti, the environment opens into wide plains. Wildlife viewing begins immediately, with herds often visible from a distance.
The afternoon game drive focuses on central Serengeti, where predators such as lions and cheetahs are commonly found.
Arrive at camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 — Full Day in Serengeti
Overnight: Conserve Serengeti Camp / Baobab Central Serengeti Camp
This is a full exploration day with flexibility depending on wildlife movement.
An early start increases the likelihood of seeing predators while they are still active. You may follow fresh tracks or revisit areas where animals were seen the previous day.
The central region supports a mix of species, including lions, leopards, hyenas, and large herds of grazers.
Lunch can be taken as a picnic in the bush or back at camp.
In the afternoon, continue exploring new areas or return to known wildlife zones.
Optional: sunrise balloon safari followed by breakfast in the bush.
Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 6 — Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands
Overnight: Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge
After breakfast, depart Serengeti and head toward Ngorongoro.
The drive includes gradual elevation gain, with the temperature becoming cooler as you reach the highlands.
Along the route, a visit to a Maasai village can be arranged. This provides insight into traditional housing, livestock practices, and daily routines.
Arrive at the lodge near the crater rim in the late afternoon. The location provides clear, wide views across the surrounding area.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 7 — Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Overnight: Arusha Villa Lodge
An early departure takes you down into the crater.
The descent road leads to the crater floor, where wildlife is concentrated within a defined area. This allows consistent viewing throughout the day.
You may see lions, buffalo, elephants, hyenas, and if conditions allow, black rhinos. Flamingos are often present at the soda lake.
Your guide navigates between different habitats within the crater, including open grassland, forest patches, and wetlands.
A picnic lunch is taken inside the crater.
In the afternoon, ascend back to the rim and begin the drive to Arusha for overnight.
Day 8 — Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Timing depends on your flight schedule. If time allows, a short stop in Arusha town can be arranged before departure.
